PG Strike Freedom Exclusive Premium Base .

Saturday evening I rushed down to Hobby Art Gallery to collect my PG Strike Freedom premium base although it was a rainy day. I was eager to get my hands on it.  When I reached there I was shock to see such a huge box for a base. Once reached home I took it out and place it on my work desk. Can't wait to open it up & see how it is like. By the way it looks like a XL pizza box.

Took out from the box the base is wrapped up with bubble wrap. Quite impressive.

Unwrapped the bubble wrap plastic and revealed the massive base. It is really a huge base! The whole set includes a mirrored finished plastic base, a base label sticker and 2 X LED spotlight sockets with wires. And the mirror finished base is protected with a layer of thin protective plastic sheet to prevent scratches on it.

Tearing off the protective plastic sheet from the mirrored surface. Ooh Shining!

Closer look at the base and realized the mirrored surface is actually a layer of chromed sheet pasted over to make it looked like a mirror. I spotted some air bubbles in the mirror sheet. which I believe it was not properly pasted on the base. It was quite disappointing  when I see the finishing as I was expecting a piece of glass or plastic mirror laid on top of the base. Maybe due to the weight or cost issue etc. But overall the base still look presentable.

Turned over the base and saw a battery compartment with a screwed cover at the center border of the base. I used a crossed head screw driver to unscrew open the battery compartment cover.

Battery cover opened and loaded 3 X AA size batteries into the battery compartment. Erm the eneloop rechargeable batterys are for testing only. I don't intend to use such a expensive batteries in it. Because I don't think I will turn on the LED all the time so I'll just get normal alkaline battery will do. Than closed it back and screwed it to secure the cover.
Next will be fixing up the 2 X LED light sockets to the base. Just simply connect the 2 male and female wires to the base and secure the 4 X clips around the light socket to the base. If installed properly you will hear the clips "Click!" on to the base. Be careful not to force and break the clips.

After all the wires connected and light sockets are installed. Turn the base and you will see a button switch on the rear of the base. Simply press it once to turn on the LED lights and press again to turn it off. Luckily the switch is not on the bottom or else it will really a pain in the ass to switch on those LED lights if your Strike Freedom is standing on top!

And "Voolah!" Completed fixing the base and the LED spot lights are shining bright!

This is how it will look like if your PG Strike Freedom is displayed on top of the premium base. It will end up looking super massive. Huge Gundam on a huge base! With the dragoons spread out I almost can't see my 19" LCD monitor behind it.

Ok I know everyone wants to see the actual effects of the LED lights shone on the kit. I realized you can't really see much of a difference if your room lights are on or your desk lamp are shining on it. So in order to see the best effect of the LED spot lights. I turned off my room and desk lights. By the way the light sockets can be turned all round for different lighting angles and effects.

I haven't stick the label stickers on the base yet. I just placed it lying on the base. I find it quite disappointing by using a normal sticker with normal fonts on it. I still preferred the silver brushed metal effects label sticker from PG 00 Raiser for the base. It looks more professional. I think I will go search for better label sticker or metal emblem for the base. It will definitely look much better than the default ones.
Last but not least, I personally felt that the premium base is good for displaying your massive PG Strike Freedom but be prepared to find a big space for this guy especially with the premium base. I intentionally took the shots on my work desk so you guys can compare the size of this fellow on the base with my 19" LCD monitor. But overall it really looks great for a center piece display. No regret spending the money on it. ^_^
